Ginkgo Biloba is the oldest known living species of tree, and the extract of its leaves has been used for centuries in traditional medicine. Scientific research has confirmed that Ginkgo Biloba extract enhances blood flow to the brain, promotes neurotransmissions, and improves cognitive function.

Phosphatidylserine (PS) is a natural phospholipid that is an essential component of cell membranes. PS promotes brain function by helping maintain neuronal membrane fluidity (cell to cell communication), which is essential for cognition, mental performance, attentiveness and reaction time.PS protects against stress, reducing the action of cortisol (catabolic stress hormone).

Panax Ginseng: Research proven to have the ability to provide a boost of energy while nourishing the body with antioxidants, vitamins and minerals. It also supports the nervous system and stimulates a sense of relaxation, good mood, and general well-being. Panax Ginseng has been shown to increase focus, concentration and mental sharpness due to physical and emotional stressors.

Alpha Lipoic Acid: Laboratory research suggests that ALA may act as an antioxidant, scavenging free radicals and preventing inflammation and damage of brain cells in conditions like stroke, multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer's disease, and dementia.

Most evidence for brain protection comes from experiments in isolated cells and laboratory animals. In mice, ALA treatment before a stroke reduced the amount of brain damage by 35-40%, as well as improved brain function and recovery. Another study in rats found that after traumatic brain injury, ALA enhanced healing by reducing cell death and scar tissue formation, while increasing blood vessel formation and blood flow to the damaged area . However, these results have yet to be replicated in humans.

Due to its potential antioxidant and anti-inflammatory functions, ALA is being considered as a potential therapy for a number of disorders. An upcoming clinical trial will further explore the possible benefits of omega fatty acids +ALA vitamin cocktail in Alzheimer's disease prevention (NCT01780974).
